This week, Nishi-kun tackles: 'How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Dub'

(thanks to c-chan for the topic suggestion. here, have a cookie ^_^)

So maybe anime dubs are the devil. So what? Take a look at this poem, and see if you can learn to live with dubs. You might find them to be the best things on earth sometimes.

No, really, seriously. ^_^ This poem isn't even really that sarcastic. It's almost downright inspirational. ^_^

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Dub

While shopping for tapes,
At the local movie store,
I found a gold mine,
No anime fan could ignore.

The full bin was marked,
"Dub tapes on sale."
"Beware! Beware! Beware!"
The bin seemed to wail.

But the tapes were on sale,
For a buck twenty-three,
So I bought several quickly,
And thought "how bad could they be?"

"They're all so cheap!"
I shouted and cried,
I had hit the jackpot,
I thought I had died.

The bin was filled,
With classics of yore,
Like Evangelion and Battle Skipper,
And Dirty Pair galore.

"Why, these are great series,"
I chose to exclaim,
"The fact that these are here,"
"Would put any anime retailer to shame."

So I ran home,
My treasures in hand,
But why they were so cheap,
I couldn't understand.

I sat and watched,
For hours and hours,
I even forgot,
to take cleansing showers.

I had started to wonder,
Why people hated dubs,
Why they wouldn't show them,
In the anime clubs.

"After all," I exclaimed,
Perhaps the acting is bad,
But paying $30 for a tape,
Is just really sad.

So I stopped worrying about dubs,
Never even worried a bit,
And my wallet was happier,
And fuller for it.

I get the best series,
And don't strain my eyes,
Trying to read subtitles,
Printed at a tiny size.

So I have to stand bad translations,
Bad acting as well,
But I'll have the last laugh,
When I buy that better cel. ^_^

Until next week, ja!
