I'm a pretty big fan of
Penny-Arcade. This is no surprise; it's been in a state of essentially constant improvement for more than ten years, and the people behind it are skilled craftsmen, whose every action is informed by deep understanding of its effects on their work. Or, you know, they're just pretty funny guys. Whatever.
In fact, I like to think that someday, if I keep writing, I'll eventually manage to craft updates as well-written and entertaining as Tycho's. I don't strive to imitate his style directly (though one may occasionally discern a Tycho-esqe propensity to indulge in italics,) but I do read his stuff and let it seep in. Thus far the results have been, if not encouraging, at least occasionally readable.
Anyway.
Monday's comic and newspost were Gabe and Tycho in top form. Great artwork, spot-on dialogue, and a nice, meditative, intriguing rant. The theme of Microsoft's ubiquity making it difficult to establish their brand -- it's almost Gibsonesque, and you
know my regard for Gibson's thoughts on brand identity.
