Okay, I've got to admit that yesterday's column was an excuse to parody my own style. Sorry. I know this is a joke that amuses no one but me, and I apologize.

(But man. I'm still kind of proud of that first sentence. It was kind of a marvel of impenetrability. And similarly, I see that there are some ways in which the syntax could have retained its tortured quality while making some concessions to comprehensibility. And there are some outright errors, for which I don't apologize.)

Style's important. Even if it's not good, it's valuable to have something distinctly your own like that.
