So I recently discovered the existence of "Imaginary Flying Machines" -- an Italian collaboration with the sole purpose of making metal covers of Ghibli songs. (They've got two albums, and they're actually pretty great.)

My favorite's probably their take on the Nausicaa requiem, but this version of "Country Road" is well worth hearing:



Consider: It's a cover by an Italian band (with a Greek vocalist, incidentally) of a Japanese version of an American song. One of globalization's little gifts to the world.
