If your first instinct after looking at all these pictures is "holy crap, how the heck did they get those panelists?!?", then you are quite normal, rest assured. The high quality of the panels at Anime Overdose 2004 were directly related to the high quality of the guests at the convention. From web comic artists to fandom experts to industry pros to Japanese seiyuu, AnimeOD's panels were beyond belief.
Cons on the same size/scale as AnimeOD might typically be excited just to have some guests on the list to start with. AnimeOD had guests that most larger cons would love to have attend. Yuriko Fuchizaki was making her first con appearance in the United States in Santa Clara? You must mean FanimeCon, right? Nope.
