sakura and syaoran. . . a video

All in all, Ithink it was my best work so far. I really liked the feel of it. I meant to enter it in a con, but it was incredibly sweet. Not the sort of thing you can really put into a con.

I've always been a big fan of CCS, and I love the Sakura and Syaoran relationship. As far as I know, no one else has made a video on their love story. So I decided that I would.

I asked Jason and Aldo to suggest some music, since they know a lot more music in English than I do. That day, they were beginning their dj training (why they were doing that is another story,) so I was able to stop by and ask for help.

They suggested about five or six different songs that I liked, so then I went to borrow the CCS lds from kero-chan, since he'd lent me the MKR lds for my last video. ;;^_^ He agreed to let me use them, so I very slowly began to work. . .

I did the video right at the deadline. I'd wanted to enter it at Fanime, so I worked 14 hours a day, leaving the computer only to get coke. Everything seemed to be against me. . . missing drivers, premiere crashing when i hit 'save' 2/3 of the time, running out of hard drive space. . . Some days it felt like I lost 12 hour's worth of work. I got it finished in time to enter it in Fanime's music video contest, but I couldn't afford the overnight shipping it would need to reach there in time. I decided to hold on to the video and save it for AX.

With the extra time, I was able to get the CCS second movie and put clips from that into the last part of the video. That was fun. I really liked that part.

And then my video wasn't among the ones shown in the contest. I was really depressed, especially when I saw the videos they showed this year. They were mostly pretty good, but most of them didn't seem like real drama videos to me. They were empty. I didn't identify with the characters, didn't care about any of it. . . There was no emotional impact.

I don't really blame them for rejecting mine, though. I had them screen it for me after the contest, and it looked awful. They had a very nice, $5000 digital projector that showed every artifact on the tape, ten feet tall, beautifully contrasted and color-balanced.

And there's always next year. . . I plan to have a new capture card and the cleanest possible digital sources, so that I don't get embarrassed like this year. And, I have a truly evil idea for next year. . . Even better than 'chibi world.' ^_^
